THE FUTURE OF SCIENCE & DIGITAL EDUCATION IS PLAYFUL

The Fraunhofer IAO is a leading German institute specialized in applied research. It focuses on sustainable and innovative technologies to shape our future society and economy. Together with 9 participating museums we developed a digital education platform to communicate the first research topic of mining. It should be designed to expand as the project progresses and new themes are introduced.

Curating content from the archive of 9 museums

With the title "To Be Discussed“, the platform offers a digital deep dive into our topic categories we defined after sifting through vast amounts of content and making the complex subject of mining more transparent and accessible for the next generation, who often face information overstimulation. To redefine how the educational content is presented, our creative direction centered on creating and curating a playful UX design, inspired by the nostalgic aesthetics of old-school textbooks paired with a modern, lab-like grid system. It features bite-sized information blocks, optimized for mobile use, and interactive elements like multiple-choice quizzes, engaging intuitive discoveries, and integrated video and audio content. A comment section allows users to not only exchange ideas and contribute their own insights, but also foster a sense of community.
